Anki Deck: United States of America

Overview

The United States of America currently is a federation of 50 souvereign states. The corresponding stars on the flag neatly fit into a nice pattern. So hopefully, this won’t change. Each state has a state code, capital, flag, etc.

The deck is available in English and German. As the states do not have different names in German, only the interface is translated. If you like this deck, please support me by rating it on Ankiweb.

Fields and Card Types

The deck contains the following fields:

On each answer card, there is a dropdown menu allowing you to display the whole state info. Of course, you can delete card types you don’t like or you can build your own. There are no card types about flags or statehood date / number so far.

Screenshots

Examples for some question cards and one «full info» card. They show the English-German mixed deck. When e. g. the country name matches in both langauges like for «Afghanistan» and «Kabul» only one is shown.

Sources

Dataset: Own creation, based mainly on Wikipedia entries.
Maps: Own creation using Free Vector Maps and CorelDRAW. (Today I would choose Natural Earth GIS data for more accuracy.)
Flags: states101.com.

Known Issues

I might redo the maps in an svg format in summer 2022.

The card design does not render correctly on AnkiWeb. It does however in both apps and on desktop.
